The Daily Mile, JOGG’s initiative for a 15-minute walk or jog every day in schools, has found resonance in the employees world. Large companies such as Philips, DSM, Zorg van de Zaak and Randstad Groep Nederland have embraced the idea and are now going to be even more active in encouraging their employees to get fit and stay fit. “Especially now that we are all sitting at home, exercise is extra important,” says ambassador Erben Wennemars about the NL2025 and JOGG initiative.
NL2025, the movement dedicated to a better and healthier future for the Netherlands, managed to get more than 65 companies enthusiastic about the idea before it even started. JOGG is also calling on its network to join in. “Because of corona we are all less active than usual,” says Wennemars. “That certainly applies to the employees who sit behind their laptops all day. With The Daily Mile we get out from behind our desks or our kitchen tables and keep ourselves sharp. Exercise not only makes us fitter, physical activity also improves concentration and reduces stress.”
